Insurance
  • Malpractice: Provided by the State of West Virginia's "Comprehensive Liability Insurance Policy"
  • Term Life :  One and one-quarter percent ( 1 1/4 % )of annualized stipend with a minimum of $50,000 plus a $10,000 basic life insurance policy for a total of at least $60,000. Additional life insurance can also be purchased.
  • Health : Single $61/month, Family $355/month, Parent with child $162/month*
  • Flexible Benefits: Dental, Vision, Short Term Disability, Dependent Care and a Medical Flexible Spending Account.  All are pre-tax dollars.
  • Social Security: Each resident is enrolled in the social security program. International medical graduates who elect not to participate in Social Security (FICA) must make this request at the time of enrollment and provide a copy of his/her J-1 Visa to the administration.
  • Workers' Compensation: Coverage is provided.
  • Disability Insurance: Provided to resident at no charge.
Sick Leave Residents accrue 15 days of sick leave annually.

Meals On - call meals are provided by the hospital
Book Fund $500.00 annually
Continuing Medical Education PGY V - Expenses (up to $1,500) paid for attendance at one meeting with prior approval of the chairman/program director. Additionally, 5th year residents will have access to a paid board review course.

PGY I - V - Expenses (up to $1,500) paid for attendance at meetings where paper(s) will be presented with prior approval of the chairman/program director

Relocation Assistance $1,000 for moving expenses
