Mission:
Consistent with a mission to provide the State of West Virginia with
primary care physicians, the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School
of Medicine (MUJCESOM) continues to emphasize primary care. The School’s
specialization in rural health issues are shown by its effective,
strikingly innovative rural medical education programs that prepare
students toward the challenges of rural primary care. To accomplish
this, the School of Medicine has established a network of rural clinical
sites to permit third and fourth year students to gain first-hand
knowledge of rural health issues.
