Eva Patton Tackett, M.D. (PGY4)
Co-Chief Resident, Med-Peds
Chief Resident, Internal Medicine
Eva was born and raised in Olive Hill,
Kentucky. She then moved to Georgetown where she proudly graduated
from Georgetown College. She then moved only 20 minutes away
to Lexington where she completed medical school at the University of
Kentucky College of Medicine. She resides in Ashland,
Kentucky with her loving husband, Brent (also from Olive Hill),
their young son, Tabor Elijah and two pug dogs.

William "Skip" Nitardy, M.D. (PGY3)
Co-Chief Resident, Med-Peds
William "Skip" Nitardy was born in West Virginia, but spent most of
his childhood outside of the state. He returned to Marshall
for his undergraduate training then spent six years in business
before going to medical school. He is married and has two
children. When outside of medicine, Skip enjoys golf and
Marshall athletic events.

Jay Lakhani, M.D.
(PGY2)
Jay Lakhani grew up in Huntington, West
Virginia before going off to Transylvania University (he has heard
all the jokes) for his undergraduate degree in mathematics. He
returned to Huntington to attend the Marshall University School of
Medicine. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports,
and reading. He is most interested in mission work and hopes that
his gifts can be used to reach people with the message and hope of
Jesus Christ.
Academic Highlights:
Lake Polan Award for cumulative 4.0 GPA
throughout medical school.

Elizabeth Saunders, M.D. (PGY2)
Elizabeth was born and raised in
Huntington, West Virginia. She attended Marshall University for
both her undergraduate and medical education. During medical
school, she helped co-found the “Let’s Get Moving!” project, which
is aimed at fighting childhood obesity in the state of West
Virginia. The project is going strong in its fourth academic year,
and she is looking forward to continuing with it throughout her
residency.
Betsy enjoys
working on her new home where she and Augie (her dachshund) now
reside.

Samia Kanooz, M.D. (PGY1)
Samia graduated from
Fatima Jinnah Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. She was
raised in Lahore, but moved to Huntington because of strong family
ties. Samia moved to the area along with her husband Kanooz,
and her three lovely daughters Alizeh, Novyle and Iman to pursue her
residency training in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics her at Marshall
University.

Ed Moran, M.D.
Alumni
2004-2008
Ed is a West Virginia native, attended
South Charleston High School and graduated from Marshall University
with degree in Education in Math and Physics. He then went to
Lehigh University and graduated with a Master's in Mathematics.
He then taught high school math and physics in Boone County, WV,
then 2 years of teaching at WV State College. He then attended
Marshall University School of Medicine where he received his degree
in medicine. Ed is married with three children.
Ed now practices with Valley Health
Systems' Fort Gay, WV office, serving both adults and children in
their outpatient setting.

Autumn Whitlock-Morales, M.D.
Alumni
2002-2006Autumn
grew up in Nicholas County, West Virginia. She is a
graduate of Marshall University School of Medicine and completed a
Medicine-Pediatrics residency program, also at Marshall. She
now practices with Richwood Area Community Hospital serving both
adults and children in an inpatient and outpatient setting. |

Ryan Cicenas, M.D.
Alumni
2000-2004
Ryan was born in
Gary, Indiana but went to high school in Huntington, WV. He
did his undergraduate work in mathematics at Marshall University
(where he also played football for the Thundering Herd - and was
part of the 1992 National Championship Team). He completed
medical school and residency training in Medicine-Pediatrics at
Marshall University. Interestingly, he graduated high school with Aaron
McGuffin and went to college with Chad Smith (who also was his Alpha Tau Omega little brother). Special interests include football
(of any sort, though especially Notre Dame and Marshall) and music.
Ryan also participates in a pediatric outreach program at a rural
high/middle school once per month. Ryan is board
certified in both Pediatrics & Internal Medicine. |

Chad Smith, M.D.
Alumni
2000-2004
Chad is a
West Virginia native whose interests include research on Streptococcal
pneumoniae resistance. He works closely with Internal Medicine
Chairman Emeritus, Dr. Maurice Mufson and has won several research
awards for his research endeavors. Chad is married and has two
young children. Chad was the Chief Resident for the
Department of Medicine. He is now board certified in both
Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. |
