Psychotherapy Psychotherapy for children between the ages of 4 &18 involves
talking, playing, drawing, or using other means of expressing thoughts, feelings
and behavior to enhance mental health. Psychotherapy assists children who are
experiencing depression or anxiety, and is a component of helping children to
develop effective coping and social skills. Psychotherapy with children often
includes working with family members or other significant people in the child’s
life.
Consultation Services Consultation Services are developed to meet the specific needs of the
individual, group or organization initiating the request. Potential services
include, but are not limited to: program development, training and case
consultation.
General
Assessment Assessment services are available for children &
adolescents between the ages of 3 & 18. Areas of evaluation include learning
ability, academic performance, daily living skills and social and emotional
development. Problems addressed included
developmental delays, school performance problems, behavioral and attentional
difficulties. Tests are selected to meet the needs of the individual in order to
best understand both areas of concern and areas of strength. Feedback is
provided and recommendations are made to address the identified areas of
concern.
Specialized Assessment
Neuropsychological Assessments focus on brain behavior relationships and thus
involve assessing a broad range of abilities. Generally such comprehensive
evaluations are requested for children with complex learning difficulties,
severe behavioral problems and those children who have undergone treatment for
cancer, experienced head injury or stroke, or have other medical problems that
may affect their development. The ages of children assessed typically are from
