Maurice A. Mufson, M.D., University Physicians Internal Medicine (UPIM), has over 50 years experience in research and vaccine development. In addition to vaccine research in an adult population at UPIM, Dr. Mufson is currently collaborating with Joseph E. Evans, M.D. and Gilbert A. Ratcliff, Jr., M.D., at University Pediatrics, to conduct research in the development of various vaccines for the pediatric population. These projects provide access to new vaccines in development by several pharmaceutical sponsors. All projects are conducted under the oversight of the FDA and other regulatory agencies. Patients who qualify and participate in these projects may find benefit such as access to new products, vaccines given as part of the study provided at no cost, as well as the extra attention of study-related care in addition to patients’ regular care.

Previous vaccines studies have included projects looking at the development of new vaccines as part of the regular series of recommended vaccines for children in addition to cutting edge vaccines not yet part of the current regimen. The research team has also worked in the development of new vaccine delivery methods in place of traditional injection.
