Basic Science/Research Faculty
The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine Research has formed a formal
alliance with the following Departments:
1.The Department of Physiology
2.The Department of Pharmacology
3.The Department of Physiology
4.The Department of Anatomy
This alliance with the Basic Science Faculty has allowed the Cardiovascular Disease Resident to participate not only in bench research, but to assist them with preparation of Basic Science abstracts for presentation at Research Day as well as national meetings and prepare a final paper for submission for publication. This alliance has developed over the last two years and has reached excellent productivity.
In addition, the Department of Cardiovascular Services has a new faculty member, Todd Gress, M.D., MPH, who assists the Cardiovascular Medicine Fellows in the following manner:
1. Instruction in Epidemiology
and research design.
2. Regular participate in
Journal Club with critical evaluation of the literature.
3. Design of clinical research
projects.
4 .Completion of clinical
research with assistance of authorship for ultimate publication.
With the MPH background of Dr. Gress, he has been a very strong addition to the Cardiovascular Disease Research Division and has added a strong Epidemiology understanding as well as increased participation and understanding of clinical research design.
