"For those who in death have helped the living"
Medical schools in West Virginia, as well as in other states
and regions, have an ongoing need for whole body donations to support their
programs of medical and other health professional education and research. The
donation of one's body for the advancement of medical education and research is
a unique and precious gift. Such a gift ensures the training in human anatomy of
the State's future health care professionals. The concern of donors for the
future health needs of the State and region is praiseworthy and very much
appreciated. The information at this site is to help you decide if you want to
make a personal donation.
Annual Memorial Service for Donors to the Human Gift Registry at Marshall
University: Saturday, May 2, 2009, Huntington, West Virginia
We are very happy to announce that this year we are scheduling a local memorial
service to honor the donors received by the Human Gift Registry of the Marshall
University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine during the previous calendar year.
This service is being held for the families and friends of donors and allows us
to recognize, honor and express our appreciation for the gifts given to aid
medical education. In the past, the service was held annually in Morgantown,
West Virginia as a combined memorial in honor of donors received at Marshall
University and West Virginia University and WVU will continue to hold their own
service in Morgantown.
This year, our memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at 2:00
PM in Huntington, West Virginia at the
Joan C. Edwards
Performing Arts Center located on 5th Avenue on the south side of the
Marshall University campus.
We hope that this change in location will make it easier for you to attend the
memorial. Because the service is now being held in our area, we would like to
extend this invitation to the families and friends of all donors, even if they
did not request notification of the memorial at the time the donation was made.
We also welcome other relatives or family friends to join us at the service as
well. Formal invitations will be sent out the first week of April to families
that let us know they plan to attend.
